1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

The 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is a legend in off-road circles, and this fully reimagined build by Legacy Overland proves why. Discovered in Texas with a worn yet character-filled jungle green shell, it retains its rugged, Raptor-coated exterior—but everything beneath has been transformed.

Power now comes from a Chevy 350 small-block V8 paired with a TR4050 5-speed manual gearbox, delivering modern performance with classic soul. The entire driveline, axles, differentials, brakes, and cooling system have been overhauled, with the addition of power steering, a custom exhaust, and ARB/Bilstein suspension for improved handling on any terrain.

Inside, the FJ40 has been elevated with full beige leather upholstery, diamond stitching, new carpet, and black piping. From the Rockford Fosgate sound system to the modern gauges, wiring, and A/C, the cabin balances vintage charm with comfort and tech. Even the signal flashers and LED lights were given thoughtful upgrades.

Finished with Mickey Thompson wheels, Goodyear Wrangler tires, an ARB winch bumper, and split-style LED headlights, this FJ40 is ready for adventure but refined enough for daily drives. It is a masterclass in respectful restoration, rugged on the outside, refined within.
